Friday prayers blast kills 40 in Pakistan

A deadly explosion has struck Friday prayers at a mosque in northwest Pakistan, leaving some 40 people killed, and many others wounded.

"Around 40 people are killed…we have no idea as yet how many have been wounded," Reuters quoted government officials in Upper Dir.

UN obtains 'evidence' of Israeli war crimes in Gaza

A UN fact-finding mission investigating reports of Israeli war crimes has obtained documents that allegedly confirm Tel Aviv misconduct during the war on Gaza.

Hamas officials in the Gaza Strip have provided the fifteen-member mission headed by South African Jewish jurist Richard Goldstone with documents, photos, and other materials considered "evidence of Israeli violations".

Ahmadinejad tells of war on housing fraud

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says his administration has gained some success in fighting corruption, especially in the housing sector.

"In our country, people who try to take advantage of housing contracts and make billions in profits usually want to point the finger of blame at the state agents," Ahmadinejad said in a housing sector gathering in Tehran on Tuesday afternoon.

US admits mistakes made in Afghanistan

A recent US probe confirms that Americans had been faulty in carrying out certain airstrikes in western Afghanistan in early May that killed 150 civilians.

Citing an unnamed senior US military official, the report said that the US air force and ground troops had made serious mistakes when US war planes bombed suspected Taliban positions.

Judge orders release of Gitmo documents

A request by the White House to keep secret certain documents regarding the prisoners in Guantanamo Bay has been rejected by a federal judge.

The unclassified documents are considered by the Obama administration as justification for the continued imprisonment of more than 100 prisoners at the detention center in Cuba.

World's 1st cloned camel born in Dubai

The first-ever camel cloned in the world, Injaz (Achievement), has been born at the Camel Reproduction Centre in Dubai, UAE.

"We are all very excited at the birth of Injaz as she is the result of the great skill and teamwork of everyone at the Camel Reproduction Centre," scientific director of the Camel Reproduction Centre, Lulu Skidmore, said on Tuesday.
